lessons…

My season as a personal chef runs roughly from May through October then again around the holidays. I lOVE my job and my clients even more! It takes an incredible amount of focus, intense attention to detail and devotion. This 2026 season kicked off with a call from my oldest son saying that his pregnant wife was in the hospital. She was due in mid September and had several complications. I must admit that I didn’t sleep much during the month of June or July. My biggest concern was for my precious DIL and her health, my son who wanted to be a father so badly and of course the baby! They had already lost three pregnancies and I have to admit we needed a miracle. It seemed like I was up all night every night praying for them. My youngest son and his lovely bride were also having some different health issues …yikes ! That baby girl was born July first and had to be in the NICU for what felt like forever! Thankfully, she was finally able to go home just last week.

Two interesting things happened during this time. The first one is that July/August are just rough for me. In July I know that August 1st is on its way, I hold my breathe…I grieve. However this year all that I had my heart set on was my kids and their well being. It rather surprised me and I’m grateful for the focus being shifted.(that of course doesn’t mean my heart didn’t hurt for my Sarah;) The next thing I noticed was that anytime our kids have to go through really hard things it’s just really HARD to watch. We can’t FIX it. We can believe and pray and encourage. I believe it’s the same way with God. He must see what’s coming for us and have to close His eyes or hold His breath when we face unbearable things. He SEE’s where we are. It’s been an interesting season so far and as I get daily updates and progress reports I’m so blessed and encouraged. X~ love you…dd
